The church that David and I are at (Bloom, in Denver), has attracted many of the people who have been scarred in various ways by church before. It's been interesting to move ourselves out of the mindset of just trying to be different. Perhaps we do do things differently, but now it's because that's how we feel Jesus is calling us to live and to show love to those around us and to the city of Denver. It's so awesome to be a part of.
However, I do think that the Christian consumerism mindset is ridiculous and not what we're called to at all... I will admit that I sometimes inadvertently become that way, the Church shouldn't be about pleasing the consumer.
